Instagram Automation for Clothing Boutiques: Answer 'Price?'

Boutiques and ethnic wear brands: reply to every 'price?' under a reel with price, sizes, COD policy and a WhatsApp order button, automatically.

October 29, 2026 6 min read

If you run a boutique — kurtis from Jaipur, Banarasi sarees, Lucknowi chikankari, co-ord sets, kids' ethnic wear — you already know the comment section of a try-on reel. “Price?” “Price pls.” “Price??” “XL available?” “COD hai?” Fifty times. And if you reply “DM” under each one, half of them never actually DM you.

This is the problem Instagram automation for clothing boutiques solves best: the moment someone comments “price”, they get the price, the sizes and a way to order — in their DMs, while they are still looking at the outfit.

Why “DM for price” quietly loses orders

Indian shoppers are used to asking first — price, fabric, size, delivery time — before buying. When you hide the price behind “DM for price”, you add a step. Many people simply scroll to the next boutique that answers faster. Automation keeps the “ask first” habit but removes the wait.

Step 1: one automation per product reel

Each new collection drop or try-on reel gets its own comment automation. Trigger it on “any comment” or on the keyword PRICE — Smart Matching also catches forms like “price?”, “prices”, “what is the price of this” — and add Hinglish words like “kitne ka”, “rate” and “cost”.

The DM for that reel should answer the four questions every buyer has:

“Hi! 💛 This is our Mul cotton Anarkali set with dupatta — ₹1,899. Sizes S to XXL (size chart here 👉 [link]). Delivery in 4–6 days across India. Tap below to order on WhatsApp.”

Buttons: “Order on WhatsApp” (a wa.me link with a pre-typed message mentioning the product), “See more colours”, “COD & returns”. If you have a website, a product card with the image, price and “Buy now” works well too.

Step 2: a catch-all for older posts

People find year-old reels through Explore and ask “available?” there. Set one “All posts” automation that sends your catalogue link and WhatsApp number. Whenever a reel has its own automation, that one answers instead — nobody gets two DMs. This combination is explained in reels comment automation.

Step 3: sizes, COD and returns — the answers that close the sale

Size questions

“Bust 40 ke liye kaunsa size?” A size chart link answers most of these. If you offer custom stitching or alterations, say so in the DM and send those people to WhatsApp — measurements are a human conversation.

COD

Be clear and honest: “COD available with ₹100 extra” or “Prepaid only for sale items”. Ambiguity here causes fake orders and returned parcels.

Returns and exchange

A one-line policy (“Exchange within 7 days for size issues, no returns on sale”) in a button keeps the main DM short.

Step 4: hand off to WhatsApp for the actual order

Most Indian boutiques take orders on WhatsApp — share the address, confirm the colour, send a UPI QR. That's fine. Let Instagram automation do the first answer and the hand-off, then your team confirms on WhatsApp. If you'd rather call people, ask for a number in the DM: “Share your WhatsApp number and we'll send you the full catalogue.” It is saved with their Instagram username in the Leads list.

Sale drops and live sessions

  • Before the drop: a story saying “Reply EARLY to get the Diwali collection link first” with a story reply automation.
  • Drop day: a reel with “Comment LINK”; optionally ask people to follow before the link is sent, which helps grow the account during a sale.
  • After it sells out: edit the DM to “Sold out — want restock alerts? Share your number”. Don't keep sending a link to a sold-out product.

When a person must reply

  • Wrong size or damaged parcel. Apologise and solve it personally.
  • Bargaining. “2 suit liye toh discount doge?” — your call, not the bot's.
  • Bulk and reseller enquiries. These deserve a proper conversation.
  • Custom bridal or lehenga orders with measurements and deadlines.

These all appear in the shared inbox, where the original comment and the DMs are in one thread, so whoever picks it up knows which outfit the customer meant.

A short safety note

Use a tool on the official Instagram API that never asks for your password. It only replies to people who commented or messaged you first, and a business can send one private reply per comment within 7 days. Replies to non-followers may sit in their Requests folder — your public reply under the comment tells them to check. More in our safety guide.
